All students commencing a new course in the Arts Faculty must complete the Introductory Research and Information Skills (IRIS) unit.

The deadline for completion of IRIS is the last Friday of the mid-semester break in the first period of study you have enrolled for.

Benefits

IRIS gives you a solid foundation in generic research skills.

You will be able to find, evaluate and use information effectively throughout your degree and when you enter the workforce.

When you complete IRIS, you will have the skills to become a confident, independent and more skilful researcher. This ability will make you more employable and your academic transcript will indicate to employers that you have passed or failed Introductory Research and Information Skills.

Access and assessment

IRIS is an online unit and is accessed through WebCT.

To pass IRIS you will need to get a minimum of 80 per cent in the quiz.

There is no limit to the number of times you can attempt to pass the quiz, nor the amount of time spent on the quiz.

When you have achieved a minimum of 80 per cent, you will receive an Ungraded Pass (UP) on your academic transcript.

If you do not pass IRIS by the end of the mid-semester break in your first enrolled teaching period, you will receive an Ungraded Fail (UF).
