Jan Stewart has held the position of CEO of Lotterywest since 1992, an organisation with a turnover of $725million and which in 2009 raised more than $225million for the community of Western Australia.
Jan graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degree in Social Work. Her career prior to Lotterywest included 8 years as Chief Social Worker at Princess Margaret Hospital. She has held office in many community organisations including Chairman of the Lady Gowrie Child Care Centre and 10 years on the Board of West College of TAFE.
In 1999, Jan was elected to the inaugural position of President of the Asia Pacific Lottery Association and in the same year, appointed to the Executive Committee of the World Lottery Association. Jan was elected to the position of Vice President of the World Lottery Association in 2005 and Senior Vice President in 2007, a position she relinquished in 2009.
She is currently a member of the Western Australian Problem Gambling Support Services; a member of the Governing Council of Hale School, a member of the Notre Dame University’s advisory board in Not for Profit Studies and is the Western Australian representative on the national Save the Children Fund board.
In 2004 Jan was awarded a Chancellor’s medal by the University of Western Australia for her services to the University, particularly for her support to the University’s Perth International Arts Festival.In the Australia Day honours of 2009, Jan was awarded a Public Service Medal for her service to Lotterywest and the Western Australian public.
Jan Stewart has been a member of the Faculty of Arts Advisory Board since May 2009.
