 Ms Allanah Lucas

Allanah Lucas's interests in culture and the humanities were developed from an early age and were further fed by studying music, singing, dance, speech and drama.

This eventually led her to UWA, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma in Education.

Since then, she has had more than 25 years of experience as a professional arts administrator, a performing arts producer, presenter and practitioner, researcher, consultant, and tutor. Ms Lucas embodies a diversity of business, management, creative, industrial and academic skills and knowledge.

In the 90s, Ms Lucas undertook a variety of roles in the United Kingdom, notably as the Executive Director of the Salisbury Playhouse, an assessor and consultant working with the Arts Council of England, the National Lottery, local government authorities and arts organisations such as the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Allanah Lucas returned to Perth in 1997 to take up the position of General Manager of the Perth Theatre Company. She was later appointed the Director of ArtsWA in 2000, and was seconded to the WA Museum as the Acting Director.

In 2005, Ms Lucas was appointed as Executive Director Development and Strategy in the restructured Department of Culture and the Arts, and became Director General in 2008.
