What is the course about? The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) is an advanced-level course of study, often similar to honours. Students normally will have already completed the equivalent of a major sequence in the relevant discipline(s) before being admitted to this course. Individual programs of study are designed for each student and may include research methods and preparation of a dissertation. As well as being a stand-alone qualification, the course can be used as an alternative pathway to a higher degree by research (Masters or PhD).
What does the course involve? This is an advanced course of supervised study approved by the Faculty on the recommendation of the head of school concerned. It comprises units to a total value of 48 points. The course involves full-time study for one year, or equivalent part-time study (up to 4 years maximum). International students may only study on a full-time basis. Students will usually study Seminar and Dissertation units in their chosen area of specialisation. How will studying this course help my career prospects?Study
in Arts will provide you with flexible, generic, portable and
internationally recognised skills. It will develop your skills in
researching, developing, analysing and communicating ideas. It will
encourage you to think creatively, and to develop a deep understanding
of concepts, skills which are crucial in a constantly changing global
environment. Study in Arts will also facilitate the development of specific expertise in the
chosen area(s) of study and a variety of generic skills which will complement
