Enrolments to a PhD can occur throughout the year.

This professional doctorate is intended for senior practitioners, supervisors, and managers with a special interest in statutory practice with children and families, in mental health social work practice and in family-centred practice with family systems.

The course provides a combination of coursework and research designed to allow participants to develop further knowledge in cognate areas related to the kinds of career positions and pathways that they might pursue.

Course outline

This is a three year full-time or six year part-time course involving the following units:

These units are taught in the evenings and on weekends.

Students will also complete a thesis.

Admission requirements

Prospective students require any of the following:

  • Bachelor of Social Work with Honours
  • Master of Social Work
  • Master of Arts specialising in social work
  • at least two years professional experience and research preparation.

All UWA postgraduate research programs: English Language Competence.
