The Master of Translation Studies offers students from all over the world the opportunity to become bilingual/multilingual professionals, able to compete and thrive in an increasingly globalized job market.
The Master of Translation at UWA is the first to be offered in Western Australia, and provides a strong research-training component, combined with an emphasis on practical skill acquisition.
This course has been designed by leading translation scholars whose work represents the frontier of translation studies, and has been benchmarked against Masters of Translation Studies offered in world-class universities in the UK, Europe and Asia.
All students undertake a translation internship in a translation services workplace. This can be in Australia; or in Shanghai, Beijing, or a number of centres in Europe with whom we have placement relationships. The internships ensure a high level of practical training, and provide the opportunity for professional contacts for future employment.
