Please note that as of 2012 Social Work and Social Policy have moved to the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, to become part of the School of Population Health.
This is for students with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and who want a professional qualification in social work.
Social workers work with individuals, families, groups, organisations and communities to create positive outcomes and to empower marginalised or disenfranchised members of society.
They promote change at individual, family, community and policy levels. It is a challenging but potentially rewarding profession.
This is a master's degree by coursework, or by coursework and dissertation.
Students must complete units to a total of 96 points, studying full-time (2 years) or part-time (5 years). International students may only study this course full-time.
All students are required to complete the following core units:
Students are required to enrol in SWSP7436 Dissertation (12 points) and SWSP7446 Policy and Community (6 points); and not in units SWSP8634 Social Work and Mental Health and SWSP8406 Policy, Community and Research for the Masters by coursework and dissertation.
