Useful links

This is designed for graduates of any discipline to take up the study of any Arts discipline(s) of their choice.

No prior study in the chosen discipline(s) is required.

The graduate diploma is intended for people who already hold a degree but who wish to undertake further study so that they can obtain advanced qualifications in a specific area of expertise.

It will also facilitate the development of a variety of generic skills which will complement specialised or professional degrees.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts does not allow you to proceed to a higher degree by research (master's or PhD); to be eligible for those degrees, you would need to complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced), an honours degree, or Higher Degree by Research preliminary work (contact the Faculty Student Office for details).

Course outline

The course involves full-time study for one year, or equivalent part-time study (up to 4 years maximum). International students may only study on a full-time basis.

Students will choose a range of Level 1, 2 and 3 units to the total of 48 points from across the Faculty's offerings. Some Level 1 units may be necessary as prerequisites for higher level units, however, the number of Level 1 units allowed is limited. Please contact the Faculty Student Office for more information.

Admission requirements

A three-year bachelor's degree in any area (not necessarily in Arts).
