The aim of this course is to produce graduates with a capacity for independent research and professional practice in the fields of native title and cultural heritage anthropology.

The graduate diploma is intended for people who already hold a degree but who wish to undertake further study so that they can obtain advanced qualifications in a specific area of expertise. It will also facilitate the development of a variety of generic skills which will complement specialised or professional degrees.

Graduates may be able to apply credit from this course towards further study at Masters level.

Course outline

The graduate diploma consists of the units:

• ANTH8416 Cultural Heritage Anthropology (semester 1)
• ANTH8417 Legal Issues in Native Title and Heritage (semester 1)
• ANTH8418 Native Title Anthropology (semester 2)
• ANTH8419 Methods in Native Title and Heritage (semester 2, requires 5-days on campus)
• ANTH8420 Applied Anthropology Dissertation (semester 1 & 2).

The Diploma may be done either full-time or part-time (international students may only study full-time).

The course has been designed for flexible delivery to meet the needs of people in a range of circumstances.

All units are studied online. However, one (Methods of Native Title and Heritage) will require students to complete an intensive five-day residential component on campus at UWA during Semester 2 study break.

Admission requirements

Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or a relevant discipline.
